Holiday Inn Express Peekskill
74 keys, ICF construction, rain water harvesting tanks, energy efficient lighting
Built to achieve the LEED Platinum certification rating from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the shell and interior structural load bearing walls were constructed with Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) providing extra thermal comfort and acoustical insulation throughout the interior of the building. LED lighting illuminates both the interior and the exterior of this 74 keys hotel while motion sensors throughout the interior of the facility keep lights off when those are not needed in an unoccupied space. Two 100 gallon rain water harvesting tanks collecting filtered run offs from the roof and the parking lot reduce the use of potable water to flush toilets or irrigation. Energy efficient PTACs already considered to receive rebate from NYSERDA will be controlled by a cutting edge energy management system. While the project is slated to register for LEED certification, it is estimated to save the facility $20,000 in energy cost with an ROI of just five years.
